For Caregivers

Being a caregiver is hard work. If you are a caregiver of a child that you suspect is dealing with a mental health and/or substance use issue we are glad you found this site to help you find out where to start to get help for your youth? You are not alone. When things start to feel like they are getting out of control this is a safe place to find the supports and resources to help your family.

Where to Start:

There are many places to get help, and the path may not seem clear, but there is someone who can lead you in the right direction.

Provincial and National Resources

Here are two parent-specific resources and sites that may be helpful:

Mental Health and Wellness Resources and Supports: brochure with extensive information for youth and parents/caregivers regarding all aspects of health and wellbeing.

FamilySmart: website provides support, navigation assistance and information for families and caregivers of youth to help them connect with and support the mental health of children, youth and young adults.

The Crisis Resources page on this site also lists resources that are for families in crisis or looking for broader resources and supports.

In Community

There are a number of local and online agencies and resources to help. Check the Community Page on this site for a list of local resources. And, remember, you can SELF REFER. You do not need a doctor's referral to get help.
